Jessica McDiarmid is a Canadian journalist who has worked across North America and Africa. She spent two years living in West Africa, writing for the Toronto Star, the Associated Press, CBC, IPS Africa and others, as well as training local journalists through the media development organization Journalists for Human Rights. She has worked as a staff reporter at the Toronto Star, the Canadian Press and the Hamilton Spectator. Currently, she writes for publications such as the Star, Canadian Business, the Tyee, and others.

McDiarmid holds a journalism degree from the University of King’s College in Halifax, where she is currently completing an MFA in narrative nonfiction.
